We’re thrilled to introduce the 2025 Elgin Fringe Featured Artist: Anna Lenz! Anna has created stunning poster and button designs for this year’s festival based on her original work, "Godmother Willow", showcasing her signature bold and captivating style. You may also recognize her work from “Going Places,” the 2024 Fringe Audience Favorite in Visual Art!
Anna Lenz is a visual artist and arts educator living in Dundee, IL. She studied anthropology, women’s studies, and studio art at Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN as well as community art at California College of the Arts in Oakland, CA. She earned her MA in Art Education at School of the Arts Institute, Chicago, IL. Her research interests include community-based art education, hospitality, and vernacular art. Anna currently processes her emotions and life happenings through painting and sewing vibrant colors and shapes. For Anna, sewing with scraps and threads is meditative, magical, and comforting.
"I make artwork as a means to process my inner life. I rely heavily on bright, saturated color that demands to be looked at. It’s my hope that the colors and their shapes both unsettle and resettle into a new sensibility - a reordering that ultimately feels reassuring. In the end, each piece feels like a new home in which for me to reside. Hopefully, the viewer will join me there."
Don’t miss this chance to experience Anna’s art in person! Her special solo exhibition is on display at Side Street Studio Arts through February 22. Stop by Saturdays (12–6 PM) or Sundays (11–3 PM) to explore her vibrant pieces. Celebrate Anna’s incredible talent and support local art!
